Linda Perlstein is a communications consultant who has been specializing in K-12 and higher education issues since 1998. She spent a decade as a journalist at the Washington Post, mostly as a staff writer covering local and national education issues. She is the author of two books—Not Much Just Chillin': The Hidden Lives of Middle Schoolers, a New York Times best-seller, and Tested: One American School Struggles to Make the Grade—and has edited several others.
From 2008 to 2011, Linda was the National Education Writers Association’s first public editor. More than 400 journalists came to Linda for coaching; she helped put their stories into context, refine their writing, sort through data and research, and generate new ideas. She also wrote the Educated Reporter blog. Now she works as a communications consultant for clients including CRPE, the Aspen Institute's College Excellence Program, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
