Alexander Kurz is a consulting principal at the Center on Reinventing Public Education. As an associate research professor at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC), his research focuses on improving the teaching effectiveness of general and special educators through data-based decision-making, researcher-practitioner partnerships (RPPs), and instructional coaching. To this end, he has been awarded over 50 million dollars in external funding to conduct research projects for local, state, and federal agencies, including IES, OSEP, NSF, and USAID. He has published over 50 articles and chapters, co-edited two books, and developed several educational technology products. Prior to working at MLFTC and CRPE, he worked as a special education teacher, behavior analyst, data scientist, and research director for a collective impact initiative. Alex holds degrees in philosophy and special education, including a PhD in special education from Vanderbilt University.
