Brief: An Impossible Job? The View From the Urban Superintendent’s Chair

This is the research brief for the second report in the Center’s leadership series; an examination of large-district school superintendents.

The report’s findings and recommendations are based on a written survey of superintendents from 100 of the nation’s largest urban and exurban districts, plus extensive interviews with 40 other large-district superintendents.
