Introducing the Math Hub

CRPE is thrilled to announce the launch of our Math Hub, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Math Hub is a consensus-driven and expert-guided resource for improving K-12 math education. As pandemic learning-loss gaps continue to widen and shortages of qualified teachers persist, evidence-grounded innovations in math instruction are now more important than ever. In collaboration with mathematics researchers, policy experts, and practitioners, we will offer guidance on research-based math practices, current issues in math education, and emerging consensus on contentious topics.

We aim to provide stakeholders interested in improving K-12 math education with accessible and reliable information summarizing critical math research, data, analysis, and expertise. On an annual basis, we will convene a panel of research and policy experts to identify current issues in math education. In 2024, our Math Advisory Panel (MAP) members selected two priority topics to focus on: ensuring qualified mathematics teachers for every student and providing professional development to in-service mathematics teachers. These workgroups will produce issue briefs on these topics in winter 2024 and spring 2025.

In addition, we are developing a forthcoming online resource called the Evidence Map, which summarizes recently published peer-reviewed articles on mathematical practices. You can explore the Evidence Map across grade spans and math concepts to locate research-based practices published in key journals, identify math areas where research is heavily concentrated, and places where potential gaps may be located.

For now, we encourage you to subscribe to our Evidence Project newsletter, which follows the latest math research and will have updates about our upcoming publications. You can also learn more about the Math Hub and our Math Advisory Panel.
