Background

Shira Haderlein is an education policy researcher with over ten years of experience designing, conducting, and leading quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research projects in education.  Her research focuses on a range of topics, including AI use in education, school choice, curriculum efficacy and implementation, education savings accounts, school district redesign, equity and access in STEM education, standards and accountability, and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on education. Shira is passionate about using data and analysis to improve education quality, particularly for historically underserved students. Her work has been published in top education research journals, including American Educational Research Journal (AERJ), AERA Open, and Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, and featured in outlets such as Education Next, FutureEd, and Insider Higher Education. Before her research career, Shira taught high school physics to eleventh and twelfth graders in Washington Heights, New York.
